Reader, Writer, Reviewer

Sorry this is coming so late in the day, but I am pleased to be participating in Book Blogger Appreciation Week for the first time.  Today’s topic is showing appreciation to fellow book bloggers, so here I will highlight sites that I check in with on a daily basis.  (I was lucky enough to meet several of them at BEA, too!)

The Picky Girl (Jenn) – When I discovered Picky Girl last summer, I found I had a lot in common with Jenn and we developed an on-line friendship, eventually meeting for breakfast in NYC and spending some QT on the BEA floor.

S. Krishna’s Books (Swapna) – I was introduced to Swapna at the Harper Collins event in NYC, and we hit it off right away.  I’m envious of how fast she reads and her prolific reviews.

Sophisticated Dorkiness (Kim) – I first heard of Kim through BookRiot.  I watched her accept the award for Best Non-Fiction Book Blog at the BBC, and met her in a signing line at BEA the following day.  It was like talking to a celebrity, I swear, but she’s super sweet!

Literate Housewife (Jennifer) – Trish from TLC Book Tours introduced me to Jennifer at BBC, and she hosted a panel that I attended.  The next day on the BEA floor, Jenn and I found her gaping at the immensity of the Expo and she joined us for a walkabout.

Dead White Guys (Amanda) – Amanda is one of the first book blogs I followed regularly.  She has a killer sense of humor and I love her approach to the classics.  Finally met up with her at BEA and she’s a doll!

books i done read (Raych) – Raych is hilarious in every way. Though I haven’t connected with her personally yet, I am obsessed with her baby (through her other blog).  You should be, too.

Bookishly Boisterous (Christine) – I love the way Christine combines bookish things with commentary on her life as a teacher.  She’s laid back and I can totally relate to her lifestyle.

These are my online friends, some of whom I’ve developed personal relationships with, and it’s really a unique and special thing, finding these like-minded people on the interweb.

  1. so may blogs I need to check out, I love BBAW!

  2. That’s so awesome that you got to meet blogging friends in person!

  3. I love that picture of us so much! Thank you for the shout out and for rescuing me from the bookish black hole that was the BEA floor. :)

  4. I’m super jealous of how fast Swapna reads too. I would love to finish books that quickly (and remember enough about them to write good reviews). I’m glad we met for a bit at BEA, and I hope we can hang out more next time (when I’m less of a celebrity… ha :) )

Thanks for sharing your list! I’m familiar with some of the blogs you mentioned, but not all of them. I’m definitely going to go exploring…like I have been doing allllll day today due to BBAW ;) I’m loving it though. This is my first BBAW and it’s fab.
