I’m done! I finished judging the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Awards well ahead of time… That’s 40 excerpts in about a week and a half. I read a much wider variety this year than last, everything from general fiction, mystery/thriller, romance, sci-fi/fantasy/horror, and young adult. It was a lot of work, and as expected, there were more losers than winners. The one comment I want to make: ENOUGH WITH THE ZOMBIES ALREADY! This was me for a good part of the review process:

Ha! Your zombie comment reminds me of the Time.com poll a few months ago about what words to banish, including “zombie apocalypse.” They asked, “What is it with the undying zombie fixation?” I’m not a huge fan of those types of books, but I have read a few good ones.
