It’s official – I am abandoning my 2013 TBR Challenge pile. I initially thought it would be a great way to force myself to read some books that have been collecting dust. Therein lies the problem: FORCING myself. I am proud enough that I got through 7 of 12 (especially since I ADORED Gone with the Wind and turned it into a fun blog experience), but I realistically can’t foresee reading another 5 before the year end.
After participating in the Book Blogger Survey and reading Jennifer’s post about Book Blogger Blahs, I decided I’m going to go back to reading for pleasure, picking from the endless stacks of books just waiting to be read. I want to lessen the sense of obligation I feel so that blogging about books doesn’t seem like a chore. Mind you, I will still pick Vine books that intrigue me, especially if favorite authors are available. But I will slow down on requesting tour books and I have basically stopped acknowledging publisher pitches. I want to read LEISURELY and ENJOYABLY.
Needless to say, I will not be participating in future reading challenges. I’m going to read what I want to read, when I want to read it, and I will still provide you with reviews for every book I consume. Consider the new leaf turned.
